Dallas Stars Daily Links: Is Roope Hintz a Future Selke Winner?

Rob Hintz is a great player. Dallas Stars fans have known this for a while, but the rest of the league is now starting to catch up:

“He’s an outstanding player,” [Minnesota Wild head coach Dean] Evason said. “What we talk about a lot about is his speed. He can spawn. Like we’re talking about with Connor McDavid and there are gaps everywhere in a player like that that can break off quickly, you have to be close to him. Otherwise, if you give him that space, it’s going to be annoying.”

But Hintz’s pros aren’t just offensive – he’s also one of the star’s best defensive players, even if he’s not up against the opposing teams’ top lines:

“He’s going to keep getting better,” All-Star coach Rick Bowness said of Hintz’s defense. “He’s only been in the league for two years… he’s been underestimated defensively and he’s one of the best penalty kick strikers.”

Does this combination of superior defense and attack make him a future candidate for the Selke Cup? Saad Youssef and Sheena Goldman discuss here.
