Monty Williams was named NBA Coach of the Year after leading the Phoenix Suns to an NBA record best 64-18 this season.
During three seasons with the team, Williams led the Suns to a winning percentage of 0.656.
Williams was drafted by the Knicks in 1994 and played for the team until 1996 before being traded to the San Antonio Spurs.

Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic has been named the NBA Most Valuable Player, according to reports from ESPN Monday morning. Beating 76ers center Joel Embiid and Bucks striker Giannis Antikonmo for the award.
Jokić, 27, averaged 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 7.9 assists in a 58.3 percent shot. The Serbian original 6-11 placed sixth in the league in scoring, second in rebounds, and third in assists while becoming the first player in league history to score at least 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 500 assists in a single season.
He led Jokić Nuggets to a record 48-34 this season and is ranked sixth in the playoffs. Denver drew in the first round with the Golden State Warriors, who proved too much for Jokic and Co. in an easy 4-1 win.
However, despite being the defensive center of attention for the Warriors, the MVP averaged 31 points, 13.2 rebounds, and 5.8 assists in a series loss.
He is now part of an embellished roster of players to win the MVP award in successive seasons, joining Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, Antetokounmue, Wilt Chamberlain, Steve Nash, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Moses Malone, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bale Russell, and Tottenham legend Tim Duncan.
Jokić and Nuggets swept the season series with Knicks this season. In a threefold effort in an overtime win against the Clippers on January 19, he scored a season-high 49 points to match 14 assists, 10 rebounds and three shots in a 16-25 shootout.

The Kings sacked coach Luke Walton during the season and appointed Alvin Gentry as interim coach.
Brown, 52, coached the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2005-2010 and 2013-2014 while coaching the Los Angeles Lakers from 2011 to 2012.
