If Rodgers does it again in 2022, he will make history twice.
First, if Rodgers wins the MVP title next season, it will be his third consecutive victory. Fellow Packers legend Brett Favre is the only other player in NFL history to have three consecutive best players, and he did so in 1995, 1996 and 1997.
Second, another top player will be Rodgers’ fifth player. Peyton Manning is the only player in five-time NFL history to have four wins while with the Indianapolis Colts and one with the Denver Broncos.
On FanDuel, Rodgers ranks fourth on the MVP panel, just as on SI Sportsbook. Winning it will not be easy, because the prize is generally based on winning many games and subtracting a lot of numbers.
The numbers part of the equation can be tricky. When Rodgers won MVP in both 2020 and 2021, Davante Adams had 238 passes for 2,927 yards and 29 touchdowns. Adams will obviously be getting passes this season from Raiders quarterback Derek Carr and Rodgers will rely on a new but not necessarily improved group of pass catchers.
Then again, Adams’ absence could work in Rodgers’ favour. If Rodgers can dominate again by making passes for the likes of Allen Lazard, Randall Cope, Christian Watson and Romeo Dobbs, his success will be impossible to ignore.
Buffalo Bills Josh Allen has indomitable Stefon Diggs as their No. 1 receiver, and playoff star Gabriel Davis, veteran Jamison Crowder and tight end producer Dawson Knox provide high-quality supporting pieces.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, like Rodgers, lost his No. 1 future with the Trek Hill trade, but Travis Kelsey is one of the best tight ends in NFL history.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has an elite trio with Chris Goodwin, Mike Evans and Russell Gage, and Rob Gronkowski could return for another season.
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert has a dynamic duo of receivers with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow will make throwing passes to Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd, and should benefit from a greatly improved offensive line.
These supporting cast set Rodgers apart of SI Sportsbook’s top runners-up. Allen and Mahomes have the lowest odds at +700. Brady +800, Rodgers +900, Herbert +1000 and Borough +1200.
The first quarterbacks are the Tennessee Titans running back Derek Henry and Los Angeles receivers Rams Cooper Cup at +5000.
At FanDuel, Allen and Mahomes were the favorites at +700. Brady, who has returned from his shortest retirement, is +800. Rodgers and Herbert come in +1000 next. Burrow and Dallas Cowboys follow quarterback Dak Prescott at +1200.
If you like a long shot, the Packers running back Aaron Jones is +20000 and reserve quarterback Jordan Love is +30000.
By winning the MVP title for the second time in a row in 2021, Rodgers emerged from a five-man group of Favre, Brady, Jim Brown and Johnny Unitas as a three-time best player.
