However, the top six polls didn’t unanimously agree that BaseVols was the number one team this week, breaking the streak. Baseball America, the Collegiate Baseball Gazette and the NCBWA agreed that a 2-2 week in Tennessee was enough to drop them below the Oregon Beavers (39-8, 18-6 pac 12). Although the Vols have a record two and a half games better than the Pac-12 powerhouse, UT are coming off their worst weekend of the season, losing their first series of the year, sending them down in the polls pair.

“Oregon State climbed to number one in America’s top 25 baseball game after sweeping its state rival Oregon and boosting its lead in the Pac 12 standings. The Beavers beat the Ducks four times last week and are now three games ahead in the Pac 12 standings. Oregon State is fifth in the Pac 12 standings. He’s ranked #1 this season and an American baseball team topped the Top 25 for the first time since the 2018 National Championship. Tennessee State, which previously spent six weeks in the top spot, slipped back to second after a series loss in Kentucky.”

Tennessee State suffered its first loss this year, and even though it lost two games this week, it remained number one due to its current workload. “Oregon State (38-9 overall) has replaced Tennessee at the top after the Volunteers held the top spot for five consecutive weeks. Beavers coach Mitch Canham has advanced three games to standing strength Stanford in the PAC12 Conference standings with 18-6 marks and finished second Best Mark 2022. Ohio State University has joined Texas, Vanderbilt, and Tennessee as the number one finisher in 13 NCBWA surveys so far.”

Tennessee received 26 out of 30 first-place votes from a USA Today poll.

While the Wildcats outperformed the Tennessee in Lexington and lost their first season, the Vols still hold the top spot in three polls. If a National College Baseball Writers of America poll ranks Tennessee #1, the Vols’ number one ranking will outnumber Oregon’s rankings 4-2.

The #1 Vols will face the 22/25 Georgia Bulldogs at Lindsey Nelson Stadium this weekend in the final regular season of the season.
Despite losing his series to Kentucky, Falls clinched the SEC East Championship with a Georgia Series loss to Vanderbilt. Tennessee State is three wins away from the Securities and Exchange Commission to win the conference straight away.
