“I give full credit to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for breaking the all-time scoring record!”: When Wilt Chamberlain asserts long-time Lakers legend’s supremacy

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is the current all-time leading scorer in the NBA. He beat Wilt Chamberlain in 1984, a feat that Wilt praised.

The hat, known as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, is one of the best hats ever. Born in 1947, Jabbar has dominated the sport at all levels.

From high school to college all the way to two decades in the NBA. Karim controlled everything. He finished his career in 1989, retiring with an average of 25 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists per game.

Not to mention the fact that he still holds the title as the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, with a score of 38,387 points. He will be cautious though, as King James is fast approaching his own record.

Whatever the case, there are still plenty of other great accomplishments for Karim. He certainly cannot be ousted as one of the greatest, if not the greatest of all time.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar received great praise from Wilt Chamberlain for breaking the record

In 1984, the ratings of scorers of all time were completely different. Wilt Chamberlain holds the record with a career total of 31,419 points.

However, it has surpassed that of 37-year-old Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. A moment that cemented him over what many people assume is Mount Rushmore for basketball.

He may have taken his time but in 1994, Wilt The Stilt congratulated Karim on breaking his own record.

“I give Karim full credit for breaking a scoring record,” Chamberlain said in a 1994 interview. “It’s a record of longevity, not a flash in the pan. Significant records are those records that take many games or years to collect. Anyone can get Great game, but having 1,000 good ones is even more important.”

It was truly a huge compliment from one of the greats. Definitely going to be a compliment when LeBron James inevitably passes by.
