They are the two biggest names in Mile High that have brought a total of three Lombardy Awards to die-hard fans of the Broncos Country. Each quarterback has his name etched into numerous NFL records and both men have been inducted into the Professional Football Hall of Fame.
These Denver Broncos icons also share a sacred bond in the team’s Ring of Fame, they live and operate business in Denver, and are universally recognized as some of the best players ever.
So when will John Elway and Peyton Manning join the Bronco ownership race?

The Pat Bowlen Trust officially announced the future sale of the team on February 1 as a result of late owner Pat Bowlen succumbing to Alzheimer’s disease in 2019. Bowlen’s brother, John, reportedly owns a 22% minority stake in the Broncos, as well as Pat’s Children who own 11.14% . The Trust believes selling the Broncos at auction is in the best interests of Bowlen’s beneficiaries.
After winning back-to-back Super Bowls in 1997 and 1998, Elway retired as a player and became co-owner and CEO of the Arena Football League’s Colorado Crash Club where he won a championship in 2005. From there, Elway was appointed by Bolin as Vice President of Football Operations In 2011, after a while he became the general manager, and later the head in the football field.

Elway resigned as Broncos General Manager at the end of the 2020 campaign and embarked on the process of appointing a suitable long-term replacement. It turns out that this is George Patton. Elway has since remained as an advisor to Patton.
As Denver’s CEO from 2011-20, Elway had the biggest free agent fish in NFL history in 2012, bringing Manning to Denver after 14 years in Indianapolis. From there, Manning’s Broncos won four titles, two conference championships, appeared in two Super Bowls, and won Super Bowl 50.
Since Manning retired after Super Bowl 50, he can be seen frequently on a variety of platforms including ESPNCommercials and golf tournaments. Manning has had a variety of job offers that include networks wanting him to comment on NFL games in the booth, but he has remained patient waiting for the right opportunity to return to the league on his terms. While the controversy swirled over QB’s control of the league’s history, fans could see Elway and Manning vying against each other for the franchise to co-own new ownership.
