New York, New York (Thursday, April 21, 2022) — Major League Soccer announced today that the 2022 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target will feature the MLS All-Stars against the All-Stars team of the Mexican Football League One, LIGA MX.
Hosted at Allianz Field, home of Minnesota United, on August 10, the game will be a rematch for the 2021 All-Star Game when the MLS All-Stars, who tied 1-1 at the end of regulation, beat the LIGA MX All-Stars in a penalty shootout thanks to two saves. Two witches by New England goalkeeper Matt Turner and a penalty kick by Ricardo Pepe.
The 2022 MLS All-Star Game is part of a pioneering partnership between MLS and LIGA MX that also consists of major events in the football calendar, including the League Cup and Campeones Cup, and is committed to providing continued competitive opportunities to enhance both leagues.

As League Soccer continues to be committed to addressing its carbon footprint, greenhouse gas emissions associated with Target’s 2022 MLS All-Star Game operations, including fan attendance, will be measured, minimized as possible and offset by high-value verified compensation. A portion of the proceeds from each ticket will be allocated to support these and other local sustainability initiatives in the Twin Cities.

Five-time Grammy-nominated multi-platinum star Khaled will take center stage at Target’s MLS All-Star Gala on Monday, August 8 at The Commons in downtown Minneapolis.

Presented by AT&T 5G as the MLS Player of the Year, the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge returns to compete with the LIGA MX All-Stars in the annual Skills Competition on Tuesday, August 9th at 7pm local time at Allianz Stadium.
To provide fans with the fun and unique rivalry of intercontinental competition, the stars of each league will be showcased as ten players from each team compete in this ultimate test of skill. The event will include five competitions originally rooted in the sport: Shooting Challenge presented by AT&T 5G; Touch Challenge presented by Old Spice; Cross & Volley Challenge presented by AT&T 5G; pass challenge provided by bounty; The Model Challenge is presented by GilletteLabs.

All-Star Week to highlight social responsibility as well as inclusion and equity initiatives
In addition to booked events, MLS All-Star Week, through MLS WORKS, Major League Soccer’s social responsibility platform, along with Minnesota United and Target, will focus efforts directly supporting communities in Saint Paul and Minneapolis .
Planned events and initiatives include the MLS WORKS Day of Service presented by Target and the Special Olympics Unified All-Star Game presented by MLS WORKS, ESPN and Coca-Cola. Today MLS and Target also announced plans to build a mini-playground at Mount Airy Boys & Girls Club in St. Paul. In partnership with Minnesota United and the American Football Foundation, the small stadium will be officially unveiled during All-Star Week as part of MLS WORKS + Target All-Star Community Day. The project at Mount Airy Boys & Girls Club is part of the association’s commitment to building more inclusive communities, while continuing to highlight the importance of equal play and provide greater access for young people from disadvantaged communities to play the game and learn important life skills.
Most importantly, MLS continues its strategy of inclusion and equity to close the equity gap in wealth by displaying and supporting diverse leaders and entrepreneurs from St. Paul and Minneapolis in the editorial of the MLS All-Star Hometown Heroes Showcase. The Hometown Heroes Showcase will honor and celebrate a select group of innovative, inclusive and impactful leaders who are driving positive social change in one of four focus areas: education, mental health, food insecurity and social justice. These leaders and their organizations will receive a range of support services to increase and amplify their impact. Hometown Heroes will be integrated into the MLS All-Star activities and social platforms leading to the All-Star and will culminate with a live panel discussion and a presentation highlighting their mission and work.
