These famous words usually follow an event that has spiraled out of control. The loss, 9-2, is an example out of control. The Philadelphia Flyers were outmatched and outdone by the Washington Capitals. Bobby Brink earned his first point in the National Hockey League. It’s the only silver lining for the Flyers’ latest hockey experience.
Philadelphia couldn’t be stuck last night. The final stage was not about winning, but rather a learning experience for young people. They are going through growing pains.
Last night was ugly, but tonight doesn’t have to be the same. The Flyers return to Wells Fargo Center to host the New York Rangers as the team honors Ed Snider before their 7 p.m. showdown.
New York Rangers (47-21-6; 100 points)
The line-up includes Samuel Bliss (ACL), Tyler Mott (upper body) and Philip Chettle (upper body).
New York Rangers expected line-up:
Krider Zibanegad Vatrano
Panarin Strom Cup
Lavrinier Goudreau Kaku
Hunt Ronnie Reeves
Alexander Georgiev (12-9-2, 3.03GAA, 89.4% SV) is the likely keeper of a back-to-back schedule. He has yet to face the Philadelphia Flyers this season. Georgiev is 4-3-0 in his run against the Flyers, and a far better performance by his current metrics.
Frank Vatrano (16G, 13A) gains the opposing spotlight. In four games against Philadelphia, he has one assist. To date, he has posed for the Flyers three times as a Florida Panther and once as a Ranger. Ironically, his only loss to Philadelphia comes as a member of the new Rangers squad.
Philadelphia Flyers (23-39-11; 57 points)

Predicted lineup for the Philadelphia Flyers:
Farabi Hayes Konnikni
Felix Sandstrom (0-0-1, 2.79GAA, 93.5% SV) will start. Sandstrom made his debut this season in an excellent effort against the San Jose Sharks. Tonight is his debut against the New York Rangers.
Ivan Provorov (46.6% CF, 145BLK, 74GV, -16) gets the spotlight at home. He hasn’t scored a point yet against Rangers this season. Over the last five matches, Provorov added a goal and an assist. He and Cam Yorke were the Flyers’ best snowboard defensive duo in a submissive defeat in Washington DC.
