An entertaining semi-final series means the NBA playoffs are once again the most watched program in this week’s watch time rankings. From May 2-8, the National Basketball Association accounted for 3.92% of all TV minutes watched — up from 3.53% the previous week, despite fewer games.
Some additional thoughts on the best programs on TV:
- The first round of the NHL Stanley Cup playoffs meant wall-to-wall hockey across ESPN and TNT networks, and 1.33% of the week’s minutes were watched.
- Despite the race lasting only two minutes, the 148th Kentucky Derby still scored 0.69% of TV watch time over the course of the week.
- Besides hockey and the Kentucky Derby, ABC World News Tonight with David Muir He is another weekly newcomer in our ranking by watch time, moving from 30th to 24th.

ABC remains the most-watched network for the fourth consecutive week, thanks in part to the NBA playoffs. The network recorded 7.05% of minutes watched for the week, beating NBC (6.45%) and CBS (6.40%) in the lead.
