A few potential Oilers teams have already been eliminated with Tyler Tulio and the Oshawa Generals knocked out, Jake Chiason and Kings Brandon Waite eliminated in the first round. After falling out of the playoffs, Tullio and Chiason signed amateur trial deals with Bakersfield Condors. Carter Savoy also signed a junior contract last week with the Edmonton Oilers.
After winning the NCAA National Championship with the University of Denver, Savoy signed ATO with Bakersfield but without an entry contract. However, now two weeks later, Savoie is locked up with the Edmonton Oilers.
There isn’t much to report on ice in the realm of possibilities, now without further ado, let’s talk about what happens on the ice.
The Bakersfield Condors had a tough time against the Stockton Heat in the AHL playoffs. After two matches, the Condors fell 2-0 in the series and are on the verge of elimination.
In the first game, Bakersfield found himself 2-0 down after the first half, unable to work his way out of it. Dino Campitz scored the only goal for Condors and the final score was in favor of Stockton 3-1.
The Condor was much better in the second game and tied 2-2 at the start of the third half. However, Emilio Petersen scored midway through the third game to give the Heat a 3-2 win and a 2-0 lead.
They are back in action tonight in Bakersfield looking to stay alive.
Max Wanner and Moose Jaw Warriors found themselves in a series as well. They fell 3-1 to Winnipeg Ice in the WHL playoffs in the second round. Wanner has one point in the series where only Warriors wins. He assisted in Carter Anderson’s shortened goal in Game Three that led to the match win.
With Tyler Tullio now in Bakersfield, Matvey Petrov is the only Oilers prospect remaining in the postseason in OHL.
Petrov and the Battalion draw 3-1 against Shane Wright and Kingston Frontenac. Petrov grabbed a pair of assists in these third and fourth games to take his post-season total to six points. He now has a point in his last five playoffs.
Xavier Bourgault put on Clinic in a first-round match for Shawinigan. In three games, the Oilers had seven points to help send Waterfall into the second round. In the first match, he made his presence known by scoring a hat-trick.
