Peaks and valleys, fallen streaks and lost exits, hot and cold are what makes following the Toronto Blue Jays fun.

With Canadians in Vancouver being put off by the weather, I decided to skip to Dunedin. The Dunedin Blue Jays are currently in sixth place (6th for your financial information last) in their division with a record 12 and 19. The D-Jays are 5-5 in their past 10 games and have a 16-point lead. They currently host the New York Yankees A’s Tampa Tarpons. Dunedin has a 9-10 home record this season.

hot

For Gabriel Martinez

In 12 games, the rookie defensive player hits an astonishing 0.388. With 4 doubles and 3 home runs. He’s riding a 12-game hit series that pushed his hitting average from 0.157 to .270. Venezuela, home of Maracaibo, scored 13 points with 11RBI. He walked 3 times and hit 7 times with 1 stolen base.

For the season: .270BA, 5 doubles, no triples, 4 home runs, 19RBI, 11/23 BB/K, 2/0 SB/CS, and .788OPS

INF Rainer Nunez

The 21-year-old from La Romana, MD, is showing off some serious pop music with 4 house tours this month. He drove in 4 runs on May 12, going 2-4 with 2 runs scored and running at home. He went 4 vs 5 on May 10 with a double and a home run for 8 total bases. Over the past two weeks, he’s cut 333/.377/.625 in doubles, four home runs, scored 13 points, and hit 11 times. He has 3 walks and 11 strikes.

For the season: .314BA, 3 double, 0 triple, 9 home runs, 23RBI, 23 innings, 4/34 BB/K, 0/0 SB/CS, and 907 OPS

INF I’ve been Machado

I wasn’t going to sign Machado because he only played 7 matches in the last two weeks but I thought why not. The 19-year-old breakpoint of IL was activated on 3 May missing the past two weeks. On his return, the top potential player went 7 for 12 in his first 3 matches. He’s riding a 3-game winning streak while hitting .30 with 4 points, 2 doubles, 3RBI, and 2 base steals over the last 7 games. Walked twice and hit 4 times for .414OBP.

For the season: .277BA, 4 doubles, 0 triples, 0 home runs, 5RBI, 9 runs, 7/18 BB/K, 2/1 SB/CS, and .694OPS

the cold

INF Damiano Palmigani

The 22-year-old has had some great games over the past two weeks, playing 2v4 with 2 points scored and walking on May 4th and 2v4 with hitting, doubling down and running on May 11th. Unfortunately, the 6-foot-1 player has been mostly cold for the past 12 games. Palmegiani cuts .220/.313/.293 with .606OPS while collecting 3 doubles and driving in 3 runs. Damiano still has great hitting quality with only 5 walks and 8 hits, but I’m sure he’s hoping some of those turn out to be quick hits soon.

For the season: .221BA, 5 doubles, one triple, 3 home runs, 15RBI, 12 innings, 16/26 BB/K, 0/0 SB/CS, and .734OPS

INF Adrien Pinto

The 19-year-old prospect who was included in Raimel Tapia for Randal Grichuk’s trade had a slow start to his Blue Jays career. He has hit 6 out of the last 9 matches and is currently riding a 3 match hit streak; However, over his last 12 matches, Pinto has hit only 0.213. Despite his low hitting average, Pinto shows some serious speed and extra pop with two triple hits and a 5 for 8 on the steal bases. He uses a D-Jays Pinto at the top of the lineup, as such, he hasn’t been driving any rounds for the past two weeks but has scored 8 runs. He did three walks and ten hits during this period.

For the season: .228BA, 0 Double, 2 Triple, 0 Home Run, 0RBI, 9-stroke, 4/13 BB/K, 5/5 SB/CS, and .621OPS
