CBS says NC State is one of the sleepers in a football playoff game

Well, well, how are the turntables (thanks to Cory for the desk reference suggestion). From four wins in 2019 to being ridiculed ahead of 2020 on the ACC Network, NC State finds itself in rare air heading into the 2022 campaign.

247Sports, ESPN, and The Athletic among others have the Wolfpack Top 10 in pre-season. But CBS Sports’ Shehan Jeyarajah took expectations a step further earlier this week when he listed NC State, which currently has 150 to 1 odds of winning the National Championship, As a dark horse competitor in ACC College Football.

Jeyarajah wrote: “The Wolfpack has hovered on the edge of the good and the wonderful effectively over the past decade.” Dave Doeren’s team has won between seven and nine games in all but one season since 2014, including a 9-3 year in 2021 that could have led to more had it not been for the reel match being cancelled.

“Right now, North Carolina is the only top 15 division to have ranked number one in the post-season Reproduction. Specifically, Wolfpack ranked No. 5 in defensive production returning, but potential quarterback from All-ACC Devin Leary It will ensure the continuation of the crime.

“North Carolina State was on the brink of contending for the conference championship in 2021 but it came a short while later. Circle a road game against Clemson on September 30th – ACC Atlantic could decide.”

The aforementioned Leary is new talk from the hack campaign that She passed for 3,433 yards, 35 touchdowns (a new school record) and just five interceptions. Along with Leary, State returns four of five starters up front, including the All-ACC center Grant Gibson And an outstanding goalkeeper Chandler Zavalaplus three of the first four receivers, plus its narrow top/back ends.

Defensively, 10 of the 11 starting players, including the 2021 defensive line for the All-ACC first team, returned Corey Dordenback Drake Thomas and safety Tanner Engel. Outstanding midfielder Isaiah Moore And Payton Wilsonwho suffered end-of-season injuries last fall, and nickel Tyler Baker Williams He also elected to return this fall.

Wolfpack season opens September 3 on the road against East Carolina.
