Packers Best Newborn Sleeper Player to Make an Impact for 2022 NFL Season

The Green Bay Packers had a great draft, bringing them back to the competition at the top of the NFC. Aaron Rodgers’ return gives them a major boost, helping to make up for Davante Adams’ loss – especially considering that Green Bay used the picks obtained in that trade to fill in several holes through the roster.

The packers chose defensive players in the first round, and strengthened their defense. The next four shots came on the other side of the ball. Rodgers is the best consecutive player in the league and will be looking to reach the second Super Bowl of his career.

The Green Bay defense is set up to be one of the best in the league, which will help Rodgers and attackers play well.

With that said, here is the Packers’ sleeping rookie to make an impact in the 2022 NFL season.

Packers Rocky Slipper for the 2022 NFL season

Romeo Dobbs wide receiver

While second-placed Christian Watson is likely to be Green Bay’s top rookie receiver, don’t overlook fellow rookie Romeo Dobbs, an early pick for round four. Doubs was widespread in Nevada due to its size and speed. Last season, he finished 80 receptions for 1,109 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Doubs has great acceleration, which allows him to gain a quick advantage on the main pillars. He can also catch traffic, and hopefully that will allow him to pick up some slack in the red zone left by Adams’ absence.

Rodgers and Packers will distribute the ball to the attack without the professional five times. This will give a lot of opportunities to players like Doubs, as Green Bay will need many passers to progress. It will remain an elite running offensive with Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. Coach Matt LaFleur’s attack will likely lead to more play this season until the passing offense is tapped.

If Doubs wants to become one of Rodgers’ best weapons, he’ll need to work his way up as he runs. What made Adams an outstanding player was his ability to detach from defense with his brilliant agility and skill at tricking defenders. If Doubs can become an above-average track runner, his output must be higher than expected.

While Rodgers doesn’t have a clear number one receiver, he does have guys to confide in Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb. Free agent Sammy Watkins and Watson will also compete in the second round for goals from their future Hall-of-Fame quarterback. Doubs can also work on being better after catches, giving them the ability to turn short catches into cut plays.

Another way Doubs can influence the Packers is by experimenting with special teams. Doubs has been a return to the gamble and could also contribute as a gunner’s master. Last season, one of the Packers’ drawbacks was their awful special teams unit. Green Bay was so intent on addressing that disaster that they brought in Rich Bisaccia to be the special teams coordinator. Bisaccia was the interim head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders last season, leading them to the playoffs.

This is a major upgrade for the Packers, and Bisaccia can get Doubs to have a huge impact on this aspect of the game. Having Doubs as a return producer and recipient would make this fourth round of selection a steal.

While it may take a while for Doubs to gain size in pass-through offense, he should have a productive newbie campaign. Packers should be competitive again, and players like Doubs can have a huge impact.

Ponies, Darius Leonard
