West Seattle Blog… | Traffic, transit, road work, weather: Friday notes + weekend alerts

6:01 am: good morning; Welcome to Friday, June 24th.

We’re under a heat warning at noon Saturday through 11 p.m. Monday, but today’s forecast is unremarkable—sunshine and high in the 70s.

road works

SDOT He has a long list of weekend alerts:

On Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., we will close the eastbound ramp from SW Spokane St (West Seattle Low Bridge) to Spokane St Viaduct, along with eastbound lanes from the Spokane St Bridge. A signed turn will be located along SW Spokane St. Closure is required so we can continue filling the pits at Spokane St Viaduct.

On Saturdays and Sundays, we will finish building the sidewalk ramps at the intersection of Dumar Way SW and SW Orchard St. This work will include pouring concrete and paving the road in front of the sidewalk slope. Expect to start as early as 8am and finish by 5pm. We don’t expect any major traffic impacts, but people who drive can expect delays in the area.

On Sunday, we will be pouring concrete for the driveway divider at SW Spokane St near 11th Ave SW near Harbor Island. This is the second of three stages of repairing a damaged septum. We expect this work to start as early as 8am and finish by 4pm. Traffic impacts include the closure of the eastern marginal road S and the lower slopes of SW Spokane St. There will be a detour in place for those traveling in the area. Please anticipate travel delays. Please note that this work is weather dependent.
