4 Romantic Road Trip Books to Read in Summer 2022

Being on vacation can sometimes mean a road trip. In many ways, road trips are the perfect formula when it comes to romance books.

For the most part, road trips are used a lot in historical romance. It makes sense that you two were forced together if you wanted to go on any kind of long trip. However, in contemporary romance, road trips can work equally well as well.

There is just something about two people stuck in a car and it creates this delicious tension especially if the two are trying to fight their attraction. Combined with a myriad of in-car variables including the radio, the amount of stops, and conversations that take place, road trips bring much more to the table than just a car ride together.

Since summer is the time when most of us take a vacation, it’s only right to recommend a few road romances to read if you’re traveling or not.

These four road trip romance books are solid if you like the allegory of forced proximity.

The first is actually the second book in the series, but can be read as a standalone book. managed By Kristin Callehan is a unique twist on this metaphor. This book traces Gabriel Scott, who runs one of the popular and romantic rock bands that he associates with Sophie. The problem between these two is that Gabrielle can’t sleep without her, so she’s basically called to his bus to cuddle and sleep. It’s cute as it sounds but it also creates so much sexual tension that they give in too.

These last two books are actually both romantic. The first is No episodes attached by Rachel Lacey. This movie follows Grace and Lia who visit Lia’s brother’s wedding dates and then go on a road trip to help Grace learn more about her family. This book deals with Grace’s grief over the loss of her parents and the trauma/guilt she was holding onto. Although this book is intense, the road trip element was unexpected but full of fun.

Last but not least hairpin curves by Elijah Winters. This is a love story between two former friends on a road trip to attend their mutual friend’s wedding. The book starts in Florida and they travel to Canada so he travels a lot, but this book does an excellent job of creating such delicious tension and lust between the two characters.
