Paul Minta and his wife, Crystal, are from Key West, Florida, to culminate in fundraising efforts for local schools in communities in the far north and south of the contiguous United States that are united by their floats.
  • 16-18 September: The outdoor learning event at Wild Outdoor Women’s Weekend, Lake Metigoshe State Park, ND Primarily for women ages 16 and up, WOW provides the opportunity to learn and improve many outdoor recreational skills, including canoeing, kayaking, Archery, Dutch oven cooking, yoga, mentoring mountain biking, fly fishing and more.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is continuing a series of educational webinars on hunting, fishing, and outdoor learning this summer. The free webinars begin at noon Wednesday, and pre-registration is required at mndnr.gov. The webinars are also recorded and made available online. Upcoming webinars are as follows:

  • August 3rd: New Deer Hunting Regulations: Big Game Program Coordinator Todd Fruberg will provide updates on deer hunting records, population numbers, and new CWD areas.
  • August 10: Hunters as citizen scientists. Learn about two science-based surveys in which hunters contribute data needed to help monitor deer and turkey populations over time.
  • August 17: Mud shooting for beginners. Sherry Bringman, DNR, becoming an Outdoors Woman volunteer steering committee member and trainer, will talk about the basics of trapping and other mud-targeting games.
  • August 24: Early geese season. Dave Trauba, DNR’s Director of Wildlife, will discuss early hunting opportunities for geese and give advice on how and where to carry the birds.
  • August 31: Hunting ammo options and tips. DNR Shooting Sports Coordinator Kraig Kiger will talk about hunting ammo, different game options, key alternatives and other tips to consider when purchasing ammo.
