Auburn, Ala – Big kicker Anders Carlson He was named to the 31st AFC Good Work Team on Monday. The team is made up of 22 college-athletes in soccer and an Honorary Coach for outstanding contributions to their communities. Team officials from across the country nominated players from their schools for the prestigious award based on their work off the field. A roster of 114 nominees was announced in July before the 22-man finalist was selected by the selection panel, which includes former Good Works players, journalists and officials from Allstate and AFCA. “It’s a huge honor to be an Auburn nominee because I think that’s where I started,” Carlson said. “We have great athletes here, but we also have incredible people. I know all my teammates do special things off the field. I think it’s a huge honour. And then to actually be on the team and be one of the 22 guys, it’s very special” .

After initially following his brother to the Plains, Carlson made his own mark in Auburn. He did it on the field and most importantly, off the field.

Beauregard Society. He has also worked with aTeam Ministries, a local Birmingham organization that benefits those with childhood cancer.

I’ve been able to kick for a while, but that also gives me a platform. And for that, why not use this platform to help people? I know I might be in a million shoes. A different post and a different life. I am grateful to be in the life I am in. I may also try to impress someone while I am here.”

The final roster includes 11 players from the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision; 11 players from the NCAA Football Championship subdivision, Divisions II and III and the National Intercollegiate Athletics Association; Honorary Head Coach.

“The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team is arguably the highest honor in college football because it recognizes a player’s integrity and service off the field rather than on it,” said Allstate Executive Vice President and General Manager Sales and Distribution, Troy Hawkes. “The world of sports is often defined by what happens between the lines.
