Presidents Cup 2022 – The best moments, sights and sounds of Quail Hollow

After a three-year hiatus, the 2022 Presidents Cup is back.

The United States team faces the international in a match between the best golfer. Currently, the US team is a big favorite, featuring world number one Scottie Scheffler, No. 4 Patrick Cantlay, No. 5 Xander Shaveli, No. 7 Justin Thomas and No. 9 Colin Morikawa, among others.

International captain Trevor Immelman was forced to scramble after several players, including world number two Cameron Smith, moved to LIV Golf. However, players like No. 17 Hideki Matsuyama, No. 19 Sunjae Im, No. 22 Joohyung “Tom” Kim, No. 26 Corey Conners, No. 30 Adam Scott are not slack.

Although the competition will undoubtedly be fierce, the President’s Cup is an act of charity. As such, we can expect a slightly lighter tone than, say, one of the Masters at Augusta National.

Here are some fun moments we noticed as the competition gears up to kick off Thursday at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina:

Justin and Jordan Show

The duo of Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth work out early in their match against Sungjae Im and Corey Conners. On the first hole, Spieth hit the tee shot at the left rough. JT made a 7 1/2 footer to keep equality. On the next hole, Thomas hit the pine straw tee, leaving Spieth with a tough rebound and telling a nasty lie. Hit it to 10 feet. Then, in the fourth round of Level 3, JT somehow clipped the tee shot (from the tee), leaving the ball about 44 yards from the hole. Spieth, one of the best jammers in the game, pushed the second shot to about 4 feet. As Spieth walked toward the green, GT patted his back. The American squad was second through five holes after Flying in fifth.

It didn’t take rookie US side Cameron Young to make an impact. Playing Colin Morikawa in Game Three, Young, one of the longest hitters on the PGA Tour, crushed a 306-yard drive down the middle of lane 1. After Morikawa hit the second shot at 25 feet, Young nearly hid from the edge. They made an equalizer and cut the hole in half.

Arrivals and more

Jack Nicklaus has been a four-time US Presidents Cup captain and Gary Player has been a three-team captain. Nicklaus was captain in 1998 which is the only time Americans have lost this event.

What is your AIM name?

For years, AOL Instant Messenger The A way to connect with friends online. Almost everyone who has used it probably remembers what they used for their screen name. American golfer Max Homma picked the number 20… “nexttigerwoods59.”

This is the perfect encapsulation of what the names of this monitor have been – goofy, slightly noble, charming after all. Scottie Scheffler, on the other hand, hasn’t had an AIM name at all — and he had a great explanation for why not.
