All Marriott credit cards – including non-annual fees Marriott Bonvoy Bold® Credit Card – Gives you 15 automatic Elite Night Credits every Gregorian year.

Even better than that, the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card Now includes 25 Elite Nights every year And the Automatic Platinum Elite Mode. This is a huge help when trying to reach Elite 1st class status quickly, and you will get straight benefits.

One caveat: Elite Night Credits that you earn on personal Marriott Cards do not accrue. So if you have 2 VIP cards that include 15 nights, you’ll still only receive 15 Elite Night Credits (instead of 30).

If you’re a big spender, you can virtually make your way to elite status without ever setting foot in a hotel.

The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card Chase has a special superpower that no other Marriott credit card has: For every $5,000 you spend, you’ll get Elite Night Credit.

Here’s what that means for you: If the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card is your only Marriott card, you can earn:

  • Platinum status after spending $175,000 in a calendar year.
  • Titanium status after spending $300,000 in a calendar year.

If you have Marriott Bonvoy Boundless and Marriott Bonvoy Business Cards (30 automatic elite nights per year), you can earn:

  • Platinum status after spending $100,000 in a calendar year.
  • Titanium status after spending $225,000 in a calendar year.

This isn’t the path of least resistance for most of us—but even two or three extra Elite Credits might be all the difference between a lost and important status. Many cardholders can benefit from the transfer of expenses through the card.

Book award remains

When you book a reward stay with Marriott Points, you’ll earn Elite Night Credits. If you’re close to elite status but just need a few extra nights, it might be worth:

  • Using your points to book an enjoyable stay that you would not have otherwise booked (ideal option).
  • Use your points to book a very cheap rewarded stay near your home for a stay (less than ideal option).

This second point may sound crazy. Who would sacrifice perfectly fine points for a boring, low-rent hotel that you don’t necessarily want to stay in? If it’s going to raise your status from gold to platinum, it’s definitely worth it. After all, you can book a night at many hotels, like the Fairfield Inn & Suites Abilene, for 6,000 points per night.

Another note: The Marriott offers the fifth night free when you book a minimum of five consecutive award nights. Even if your travel plans include a four-night award stay, you can also spend the free fifth night and gift yourself a free Elite Night Credit.
