If you hold an American Express® Membership Rewards membership card, you can earn 6,000 Membership Rewards points when you make an eligible purchase of a Delta Air Lines Gift Card – thanks to the new Amex offer.

American Express Gift Offer

Target card holders can win once 6000 additional Membership Rewards points When using their registered card to make a single purchase of $300 or more online at delta.com/giftcards/amex for Delta Gift Cards by November 27, 2022. (Manual registration required and terms apply.)

Both physical purchases and e-gift cards made through this link are eligible.

Remember that eligible flights purchased with Delta Gift Cards earn MQM, MQS, MQD and redeemable SkyMiles. Additionally, Delta Gift Cards do not expire. So, if you plan to spend at least $300 on Delta Air tickets in the future and have an Amex Membership Rewards card, this is a very good deal.

Once again, just to be clear: Eligible purchases must be made through delta.com/giftcards/amex. Purchasing Delta Gift Cards elsewhere will not trigger the offer.

How does the purchase code work?

You have received the offer on all three Amex Membership Rewards cards:

added to Platinum® Card from American Express Because I earn 5 times Membership Rewards® points for flights booked directly with airlines or with American Express Travel (up to $500,000 on these purchases per calendar year). But most purchases made directly with airlines (baggage fees, in-flight food and beverages, etc.) qualify for 5X.

So, I purchased a $300 gift card on a Friday afternoon. Here is where it becomes interesting.

While making the purchase, I noticed that Cashstar – a well-known gift card seller – appears to handle the transaction for both physical and electronic gift cards.

When I received the “Hooray! I used the Amex Offer!” email (or whatever it says), here’s how to make your purchase:

So, it looks like “DELTA CSTAR GFTCD” would be the trader’s “Delta Cashstar Giftcard” (I’m very aware of that) – and earn only 1X points per dollar. (Yeah, yeah, #FirstWorldProblems, I know.)

Buy Delta Gift Card from Amex Offer

Purchase coded as “DELTA AIR LINES GC” with the 800 public Delta phone number listed as the contact information for the merchant. (Woohoo! 5X points, here we come?!)

Anyway, if you want to buy a Delta Air ticket in the next few years and earn some additional membership rewards, this is an excellent opportunity.
