Braden Schneider is not assuming anything

TARRYTOWN – Despite playing 63 NHL games last season – including 20 in the playoffs – Braden Schneider isn’t assuming anything is entering Year Two.

This includes where he will live.

“Right now, I’m just at the hotel, waiting to see what the opening night slate looks like,” he said after Friday’s brawl at the MSG Training Center. “I don’t think anything is secured until my name is called for it.”

Should anyone tell the 21-year-old defender that he will not only make the list, but be a staple in the squad?

Coach Gerard Gallant said the same thing on Wednesday, when he mentioned Schneider as one of five D-men locked up in positions. But the previous first-round pick either missed the press conference or was selectively ignored.
