Police: Princeton High School all clear, active shooting report is wrong
You are? I have a police officer here at the moment, and he’s a deputy with the Sharonville Police Department. Sorry to change the topics a bit. how are you? What can you tell us? what is going on? Was quickly answered here at about 10:15 for a call regarding active shooting and injury inside the school. We were able to quickly confirm that it was a hoax. You want to make sure that everyone knows that all students are safe. There were no casualties for this event. All students are held accountable and everyone is fine. Because of the turmoil, high school will be lost for the day. It is a pleasure to get information about where people are supposed to go. If they were a student typing by bus, they would be sent home from school and I think they load the buses now. It will be dropped into its normal place. If the students are drivers, they get in their cars and will be able to go home. If students need to be escorted, students stroll to the 20th Century Vineyard Church on Boulevard in Springdale. This is the point of unification. We ask that no parents attend high school even if everyone is safe. We have a heavy police presence and we are dealing with crowds that are causing a lot of confusion. CENTRAL CIRCLE BOULEVARD We have staff there and we have some school representatives there as well. Everyone is safe. All is well. This was not a good call. Now, we are in crowd management mode. Karen: Middle School wasn’t affected by the early release terms, right? >> Middle school will maintain its normal day. They have entered a small part closure. The call was about high school and the school has since been vacated. It’s one of the reasons it took so long for the United States to give an official that is crystal clear. We went from room to room to make sure there was nothing. Karen: Talk about it. There was a threat. Have you not been contacted? Was it through social media? >> It was a direct 911 call from someone who claims to be a student at the school and described a bullet wound and multiple injuries. I think the 911 call was moved out of Cincinnati. One of – when dispatchers get a call like that, they don’t waste time, so this was where we got a massive response from all of these agencies. Karen: You just had information on every agency in Greater Cincinnati here. I was here quickly. I was a few miles away and the place was surrounded. Talk about when it’s a threat and you don’t know what’s going on. Do you just call everyone? >> Something of that grandeur, it’s absolutely – it goes to all counties. We had WESTCHESTER, Cincinnati Police, Sheriff’s Helicopter, District SWAT Team. All of our schools in – Princeton, we have full time school resource staff who have been checking rooms already, trying to give credence to this threat. We are happy with our response and how supported we feel. There are several hundred police officers, probably. Karen: Throughout the Oyo period, there were numerous threats in schools all over Oyo. Do you know if this is related to that? >> I can’t talk about it. They are obviously similar calls. One, County, Stark County, there have been similar calls. We can put two or two together. We are still in crowd management mode, which makes the students sure they will be reunited and there is less confusion in the school. After that, it turns into a criminal investigation into everything else. Karen: Who’s going to deal with that? He said the call originated in Cincinnati. Do you think who made the call in Cincinnati? >> We’ve already got people looking for where they came from. We’ll start that. If there are multiple jurisdictions, it may be a multiple agency or a federal order. Karen: Do you have a chance to speak with any of the students who have just been released? If you have, how does it work? Even if it was a hoax, during those moments, I was here with the parents who were on the phones with their loved ones. They panicked, and tried to be quiet, saying “Mom, please come get me.” How are they now? >> The students I’ve talked to about leaving are doing well. But the moment we were in there, going into the room, it caused a huge amount of panic, which made us so sad and angry with people feeling that this is some level of amusement to do that. We’re going to do everything we can hold someone responsible because she literally terrorized a lot of these kids. Karen: I know the Sharonville Police Department has worked very closely with the school districts. Is that something you trained in Princeton City Schools? >> We have. This is a newer building. We have done many tours and other things inside the building. All of our employees have keys so they can go through the doors and do what they need to do. Honestly, we have active shooting practice next week. Much of that would be viable. Maybe we can take some lessons from today and apply that to our training next week. Karen: Agent, thank you for getting off the air and getting the record straight. There was a lot of confusion from the parents. >> My job is to talk about the right place to pick up your baby. Karma Church. If your student is a driver, he will be able to drive. If they are bus passengers, they will be sent home. Middle school students aren’t as impressed as many high school students, so they’ll stay in school for the day. Karen: Thank you, Agent. Stay safe there. You hear, students only – pick-up students are the ones to be picked at the Vineyard Church. The bus driver will be dropped at home. If they extract their own cars, they are now free to go and go home. I know a lot of parents out there, especially the ones I talked to, they can’t wait
