The naming site reveals the surprisingly popular titles for 2022

Is Gary’s name coming back? The naming site reveals the most amazing trending titles of 2022 – including David, Sarah and Thomas

  • Gary appears in a list of ‘common’ names published by UK Baby Names
  • Others who made the cut included Paul, John, Peter, David, Matthew and Thomas
  • For girls, Sarah is included in the list – with the least surprising Emma and Olivia

Looks like the name Gary belongs to a new generation of young boys.

The nickname, which has fallen out of favor with millennial parents, was included in a list of “common” baby names published by UK Baby Names.

Some other unusual names for newborns also appeared on the list: John, Ian and Paul.

Other traditional names on the trend list for boys are: James, David, Peter, Jack, Oliver, Thomas and Matthew.

For the girls, Sarah makes the cut – with less shocking Olivia and Emma.

However, despite the obvious trend with parents, Gary hasn’t made the top 100 names overall yet.

Meanwhile, UK Baby Names has also shared a short list of the most popular names among its users.

Paul appears again for the boys, along with Eugene, Percy, Lars, Alan, Artie, and Bernard.

The girls’ names were mentioned Kimberly, Claire, Cassidy, Michelle and Madeline.

Last month, the most sought-after baby names so far for 2022 were revealed, with Kristen, Susan, and Lauren in the rankings.

For boys, Bell, Chad, and Stewart were listed as nicknames that failed to inspire new parents.

The list, released by baby expert Bella Baby, used statistics from Baby Name UK and Google Trends to collect the results.

The most unpopular girl names included Angela of Italian and English descent, ranked 683 out of 5,493.

Kimberly – which means “of the wood of the royal forest” and “of the meadow of the royal castle” – came in 1013, and Alexa – a form of the masculine name Alexander – came in 1687.

The name Nicole – of Greek origin – also failed to impress, placing in 279th place.

The Japanese geographer name Kobe made the list of boys at 298 out of 5493, as did Jeffrey in 1825 out of 4,608.

Nigel—which means “hero”—was not, as Ashton and Graham did.
