Ultra-pedestrian e-scooters are now available in Google Maps, making multimedia trip planning easier | National

CAMBRIDGE, MA, Sept. 23, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — E-scooters can now locate their bright yellow Superpedestrian scooters in the Google Maps mobile app, making it easier for riders to plan their trips, including the first and last mile. to public transport. Incorporating real-time Superdestrian locations into Google Maps is a critical step to making e-scooters a reliable and user-friendly form of everyday transportation. Using the app, passengers can plan their multimodal trip along with public transportation information and ride sharing.

“People use our scooters for all kinds of trips, often in conjunction with public transportation, walking and ride sharing,” said Jamie Perkins, Director of Communications at Superpedestrian. “It is important to us that our passengers are supported with the best tools to plan their trip, and integration with Google Maps is a clear necessity to ensure that passengers can create plans and also change their plans on a whim.”

Superpedestrian is currently incorporated into cities across the United States, Italy, Spain, Austria and Portugal. This is the latest Superpedestrian integration, which can also be detected in apps including Moovit, Transit, Citymapper, Wegfinder, Velocia and Urbi.

How it works

Riders can find Superpedestrian motorcycles in the bikes section of Google Maps when planning their trip. In addition to the real-time location, Google Maps will also display the scooter’s battery range, estimated cost, and trip time. When users select the scooter option, they will be directed to the Superpedestrian app to unlock the scooter.

To ride a Superpedestrian scooter, simply download the Superpedestrian mobile app from the iOS or Android App Store. Once you find a Superpedestrian scooter, make sure the throttle LED is green, which means the scooter is available to rent. Then scan the scooter’s QR code (located on top of the handlebars) via the Superpedestrian app to unlock it. Wait up to 10 seconds for the throttle indicator to turn white, indicating that the scooter is open and ready to ride.
