Expedia: Partners with Afterpay to bring flexible spending to millions of travelers in the US

For the first time, customers can book travel with Expedia through the Afterpay app

Seattle, WA, November 21, 2022 – Expedia Group, the world’s leading traveler technology platform, has announced a partnership with “buy now, pay later” company, Afterpay. Today, millions of U.S.-based customers can now book flights and hotels with Expedia through a co-branded experience in the Afterpay app, selecting the option to pay in four interest-free installments.

Afterpay’s Pay in 4 product allows customers to manage their finances by spreading their payments over six weeks without interest. By partnering with the Expedia Group, Afterpay can offer millions of customers a way to pay for trips that fit their budget. Powered by Expedia Group’s retail partnerships technology, customers can browse and book Expedia Group’s global offering of more than three million properties and more than 500 airlines worldwide, exclusively through this personalized experience.

“The Expedia Group is proud to become Afterpay’s first major travel partner in the United States,” said Christian Giron, Senior Vice President, Media and Brand Partnerships, Expedia Group. “This highlights our continued growth in developing cutting-edge passenger technologies that provide our partners with new ways to deliver great experiences to their customers that in turn enhance customer loyalty.”

“Our partnership with Expedia Group is an important step in offering our customers a more responsible payment option for higher-priced items like travel,” said Alex Fisher, North America President of Revenue, Afterpay and Cash App. “As customers prepare for the peak holiday travel period, we are pleased to offer an easy and flexible service that allows our customers to book and pay in four installments for their preferred flights and accommodations, interest-free and over time.”

Expedia Group also plans to expand this initiative with additional brands in the future, to continue to allow more partners to succeed in the world of travel, and to enhance global travel for everyone, everywhere.
