Harvick’s retirement will come sooner rather than later. He will be 48 years old by the time NASCAR enters the 2024 season which means he will need to sign a contract extension at that point in his life.

There is nothing else that needs to be proven. Harvick has one NASCAR Cup Series championship and 60 wins, one NASCAR Xfinity Series championship and 47 victories, and 14 NASCAR Truck Series wins.

Harvick also won the Daytona 500 and continues as one of the sport’s most consistent drivers of all time. In addition, he has exceeded eight wins in a season on two separate occasions in his career.

He is one of NASCAR’s best drivers. It’s not official that Harvick will retire but based on reports, he has intentions to leave his full-time driving career behind and not reach an extension with Stewart-Haas Racing.

3 bold choices for Stewart-Haas Racing if Kevin Harvick retires after 2023

It’s hard to blame him, too. The challenge of being a full-time Cup Series driver is tough on everyone involved. In addition, Harvick’s son Kellan is growing and working on his racing career.

A driver of Harvick’s caliber deserves a bye season. This has been done in the past to drivers like Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

Hopefully Harvick and the #4 team can make this game their own. If they wanted to keep it casual all season long, it’s totally understandable why.

However, Harvick’s possible retirement is a very major story that should be at the top of the list when it comes to things to watch in 2023.
