Settlement is front and center at Spain’s pinnacle of golf green and blue

The week of the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open in Spain – the end of the LET season – kicked off with the Green & Blue Golf Summit hosted by Les Roches Marbella Global Hospitality Education in association with D&B, promoter of the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open in Spain and official host of the 2023 Solheim Cup.

The Sustainability Summit falls under the framework of LET Celebrating the Green Presented by Dow – a sustainability initiative aimed at supporting, recognizing and participating in the sustainable work of the European Ladies Community.

Addressing women’s sports, tourism and sustainability through presentations, discussion sessions and Q&A was the main objective of the summit, as well as analyzing the opportunities and changes taking place in the golf industry.

Gonzaga Escoriaza, President of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, opened the Green & Blue Golf Summit, followed by Sara Almagro, two-time Spanish champion surfer. Pablo Mancilla, President of the Andalusian Golf Federation; Beatrice Soler, Director, Marvelous Golf Services; Eduardo Medina, Executive Director, Activar; Roddy Williams, Associate Golf and Communications Professional at the GEO Foundation and Lara Arias, Greenkeeper at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, host of the 2023 Ryder Cup.

After the summit, Alicia Garrido, Executive Director D&B said: “It is important to talk about various topics in the golf industry with experts from different fields to get input, understand opinions and have the opportunity to absorb new ideas and knowledge that will help us manage new challenges and understand the needs of the community.

“We plan to follow up with next year’s Summit on the Solheim Cup to continue to highlight women’s sport, tourism and sustainability. In 2023 it will be the first time ever for the Solheim Cup to feature a Sustainability Partners category and we are doing this to engage companies that want to raise awareness and make a statement About sustainability and golf with us.”
