Why would Tulane win?

The running game is still amazing.

The Green Wave’s style of offense does a great job of putting running backs in wide open spaces to come up with big, fumbled runs, and now it’s up to Tyjae Spears and QB Michael Pratt to do just enough to keep Cincinnati’s defense working.

The Bearcats are solid against running, but they’ve reached 174 yards or more in four of their last six games. It starts with Tulane trying to set the tone for the game on the floor, and then it’s down to a defense who has a crazy way to live or starve with junk food.

There were five rushing games last week against SMU, four against Memphis and two more in five games. All Tulane needs is one—7-0 when it forces a turnover, but…

Why would Cincinnati win?

Cincinnati went without a turnover in three of the last four games.

On a run with three straight wins and nine of their last ten games, the team has had one of the nation’s most turbulent defenses, offense is steady in the air, and it has found its way.

Rely on defense and a great kicking game, keep the chains moving enough to come through when needed most, and rely on defense more.

It’s a team that knows how to win. There may be a lot of drawbacks, but keep the score low, and get the win.

What will happen

Cincinnati is 2-2 when allowing more than 24 points and 7-0 when allowing fewer points. It’s also 5-0 at home.

Tulane has only scored fewer than 24 points once – but that was in the 17-10 win over Kansas State.

The winner plays in the American Athletic Conference Championship, and the loser has a chance to get there if UCF loses to USF.

So, most likely, the winner is in, the loser is out.

Cincinnati’s defense will be slightly better than Tulane’s offense.
