A very happy thanks to all of our readers. We hope you are eating silly, traveling safely, and enjoying time with your loved ones. The Atlanta Braves didn’t make any notable moves yesterday, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have some interesting options and it doesn’t mean they’re quiet behind the scenes.
For example, there was a rumor around this week that the Braves were at least kicking tires on Seattle Mariner Mitch Hanegger. Haniger was a popular business target among Braves fans a few years ago, but injuries have really taken a toll on him in recent seasons. Here’s a look at why the Braves are considering Haniger.
More news for the brave
Elsewhere on the site, we caught our second batch of Tomahawk Take Awards as we brought attention to the show’s crew. In another close vote, Max Fried took our Braves Cy Young Award crown as Spencer Stryder almost scored an upset. Having two (plus a also no-holds-barred Kyle Wright) of Gouda Fried and Stryder is a luxury the Braves take (and take pleasure in).
Finally, we continued our reviews of the season with Kenley Jansen who, despite a few stumbles here and there, has been a really solid piece of the beloved Bull Braves in 2022. Was he perfect? Certainly not, but he was pretty much stellar and the Braves put in some great performances when they needed him most.
The Angels made a splash late Tuesday night when they acquired Hunter Renfroe from the Brewers. That move, combined with their generally high activity levels to start this season, has Fansided’s Robert Murray believing the Angels are going to go all-in this season. they must.
Jacob deGrom is rightfully considered one of baseball’s most celebrated pitchers. While his recent injury problems are a concern, it’s also likely that no player is more dominant in the game right now when he’s healthy. The Mets appear to have a backup plan for if/when he signs elsewhere in the offseason as they appear to be looking to bring Carlos Rodon into the fold if deGrom ends up elsewhere.
In sad news, despite the fact that he’s on the Phillies roster, Bryce Harper officially went under the knife yesterday and underwent Tommy John surgery. Initial schedule for his return as their DH is nearing the All-Star break. Seriously, Bryce…take your time. Stop for the entire season if you need to. We wouldn’t mind.
The market for Aaron Judge remains hot as teams try to stay competitive for his services. Judge is very well known for his visit with the Giants this week and to help recruit the player, the Giants asked Warriors star Steve Curry for help.
