Asdrubal Cabrera took a swing against an opposing player

During the Venezuelan Winter League, a brawl broke out between two players during a match between Caribes de Azuategui and Tiburones de la Guaira. It started when Cabrera, who plays for Caribes de Azuategui, ruled out opposing player Carlos Castro’s home celebration. In response to the celebration, Cabrera landed punch on Castro while he was circling around first base. This escalated into a brawl as players from both teams got involved.

Cabrera has since issued an apology for the altercation involving MLB insider Hector Gomez subscriber in a tweet. Cabrera said, “I’m sorry for my behavior at the game last Sunday. My actions were not consistent with what my career has been like at all levels I’ve played in baseball. I have no justification for what I did, I’m so sorry.”

No matter what happens with this incident, Cabrera’s big league career is coming to an end. Notably, he was not selected by the MLB team for the 2022 season. Since Cabrera has accepted his misconduct, it will be interesting to see what punishment he faces from the league.
