NHL picks

Your best bet : Avalanche (-120)

Colorado hasn’t really hit its stride this season, but it’s a palatable number to bet on against a Nashville team that isn’t blowing anyone away.

Avs ranked 11th in high-risk odds ratio (HDCF/60) over the past two weeks at 52.07%, according to Natural Stat Trick. They’ve turned that advantage into wins, winning three of their last four.

While the Preds are 14th in HDCF/60 at 50.58% over the last 14 days, they have struggled to piece together the positive results. Nashville has lost two of its last three games and has only scored six goals over that span.

The gap between Colorado and Nashville is significant when looking at expected goals ratio (xGF%). The Avalanche ranked sixth with 54.54% and the Predators ranked 24th with 46.94% over the past two weeks.

The Avs also hold a goaltending advantage, as they’re first in team save percentage (. 934) over the past two weeks. We’ll bet they win on Friday.

Basic stats: Nashville ranks 30th in terms of goals per game (2.55) this season, while Colorado ranks ninth (3.44).

Quick picks

Gates Line Line (+143): Winnipeg plays respectable hockey as it has been in 15th place in high-risk chances percentage at 50.00% over the past two weeks. This is significantly higher than rival Dallas, which ranks 24th at 47.83% over the same period.

These two teams also met earlier this month, a match that both teams won 5-1. For those interested in the anecdotes, this is head coach Rick Bowness’ first game in Dallas since being pushed off the bench this season. His group can be very excited to play with him in this set.

Shark Money Streak (+116): San Jose continues to be a good source of value in the betting markets as it ranked fifth in the HDCF/60 over the past two weeks with a gain of 55.03%. That’s higher than Los Angeles, which ranked 13th with 50.66% over that period.

Additionally, the Sharks have dominated the Kings at home recently, winning five of their last six meetings at the SAP Center. Los Angeles has lost five of its 12 road games this year.
