The annual Hope Golf Classic raises funds for Steps of Hope

Friday, November 4th turned into a beautiful day of golf at Links O’Tryon, as the 19th annual Hope Golf Classic kicks off to raise money for Steps to HOPE.
The Hope Golf Classic has had over one hundred competitors and about thirty teams. It was the sole fundraiser of the year for Steps to HOPE, the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center in Columbus. Player registration fees, less greens and cart fees, and any donations went to Steps to HOPE to fund their existing programs.
This year’s tournament winners Jeff Powell, Scotty Green, David Hunt and Joe Wantoch took a round of golf at The Cliffs at Glassy Golf Course and the Golf Buddy Laser Lite Rangefinder.
Hope Golf Classic raises the funds Steps to Hope needs to serve their mission of creating a community free from domestic and sexual violence violence. Steps of Hope provides safe emergency shelter for those seeking refuge from domestic violence or sexual assault and provides a 24-hour hotline for crisis intervention and assistance. They offer free counseling, support groups, and advocacy in court to help victims navigate the judicial process with complete confidence.
“Everyone at Steps to HOPE is involved in making the course run smoothly,” said event coordinator Jessica Cashwell. “We also have many volunteers who give their time and effort to make the tournament a success. We greatly appreciate the tremendous support of the golfers, businesses, families and individuals who are not only providing financial support, but donations of prizes, food and beverage, and their time and talent to help ensure the success of the event.”
