Undefeated FBS college football teams in 2022

We started with 131 college football teams hoping to go undefeated this FBS season. We only lost four teams. What was a long list is now an ever-shrinking list of exclusives.

Here’s a look at all of the remaining undefeated FBS teams this season. Teams are listed in order by College Football Playoff rankings.

No. 1 Georgia

The last undefeated season1980: (12-0, won the national title)

The defending champion Bulldogs sparked with No. 1 Tennessee in town in their biggest game of the season, dominating the Vols in a 27-13 victory. The Bulldogs clinched the SEC East title and an SEC tournament berth, set to face LSU for the conference crown. UGA is one win in a row from their second consecutive 12-0 start.

No. 2 Ohio State

Next game: vs. No. 3 Michigan | 12 noon on Saturday, November 26th
The last undefeated season: 2012 (12-0)

2 Ohio State blew Indiana 56-14 before downing Maryland 43-30. Against Indiana, Ohio State started the game hot with three touchdowns in the first quarter, and finished with eight total touchdowns (five passes, three rushes). CJ Stroud recorded 297 yards and five touchdowns – the fourth time he’s thrown five or more in the end zone this season. At Maryland, OSU jumped out late after Maryland made it a 33-30 game in the fourth quarter.

No. 3 Michigan

last game: def. Illinois, 19-17
Next game: at No. 2 Ohio | 12 noon on Saturday, November 26th
The last undefeated season1997: (12-0, won the AP National title)

Down 17-10 in the fourth quarter, Wolverines kicker Jake Moody took a big lead, kicking three consecutive field goals to win 19-10. He kicked the game-winning 35-yard touchdown run with nine seconds left on the clock to complete the comeback after the Fighting Illini held Michigan’s offense nearly the entirety of the game.

No. 4 TCU

register: 11-0 (8-0 Big 12)
last game: def. Baylor, 29-28
Next game: opposite Iowa | 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 26th
The last undefeated season: 13-0 (2010)

Battered by Baylor on the road, TCU won by only one, 29-28. The Bears immediately opened up a 28-20 lead in the fourth quarter, but the Horned Frogs rallied to comeback, leaving the ball in the hands of Max Duggan for a score of 29-26 on the final drive of the game. He marched TCU down the field and into field goal range, where Griffin Kell hit a 40-yard kick for the win.
